FRESENIUS IMMERSIVE WEB PROTOTYPING

Current development of web-based immersive environments and scroll-enabled gallery spaces for global healthcare group Fresenius. I operated as a consulting specialist, technical director, and lead 3D generalist for Berlin-based CBE Digiden on their project, principally supporting technical development and working with their own designers to produce digital concept work as the company had never done this type of work previously.

Role - Frontend Dev, Tech/Creative Consultant, Threejs, UI/UX, 3D Generalist
Year - 2023

Client - cbe-digiden.de

WORK SUMMARY

Initially, I used the frontend web dev tool Spline to produce a simple mockup of the experience layout with simple free 3D assets. As both the client some of the team were not familiar with this type of technology, this was instrumental in informing and helping both CBE Digiden and their client in understanding the intention and fluidity of the experience.

And so, following from this, I worked with the team lead, designer, and training their junior developer in producing both simple mockups and realising the concept art in 3D by using both Blender and Unreal Engine for modelling and rendering. This was done alongside the optimisation of free stationary pedestrian assets obtained from Twinmotion and asset pack sites so that they could load and run quickly over the web.

Once 3D assets were laid out and finished, they were delivered to the junior developer who I supported with Threejs development to produce an interactive and immersive version with simple interactions which keyed the render camera along a spline through the 3D space.

I was instrumental in this work being won and run from a technical perspective both through my expertise and support of their developer. That being said, it was beyond my control the management of the development process, speed, and crunching down of design meetings. If such conditions could have been improved, I believe the project may have carried a lot further in its final delivery.
